J. Francis Cooper is a Brooklyn–based composer and performer specializing in sacred and choral music. His work is rooted in the Anglican tradition, with a particular focus on liturgical composition and the living practice of church music.
Five of his recent compositions—including his Preces & Responses and Missa Brevis—are featured in the Grace and St. Peter’s Choral Series (curated by Jordan Prescott). Many of these works were premiered by the Grace and St. Peter’s Choir in Baltimore and reflect his ongoing engagement with contemporary approaches to historic forms of Anglican liturgy.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Cooper was a chorister at St. Peter’s Collegiate Church. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Baldwin Wallace University and a Master of Music in Voice from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
